I had a very disturbing e-mail from my cousin in the UK last evening concerning articles in British Newspapers about 'Plans by the British Govt to evacuate ex-pats in the event of the Spanish Banks collapsing'!! I do NOT wish to unduly worry any of you but as you know we are in 'unknown territory' over the EURO and no one really knows whether it will collapse or not---it is actually holding up very well considering what is going on in Europe. I would recommend that you 'zap' into your Google--- something like 'British Govts concerns for ex-pats over the Euro' and it will bring up several different articles about what the govt is doing to prepare for a 'worst case scenario'---YOU will then make up your mind what--if anything- you can do on a personal level. These articles MAY have been overcooked but we never thought the British Banks would almost collapse---and the Spanish economy is in a worse state than the UK. Yes I had to check it was not the 1st APRIL!!! IF you have the resources, you may wish to 'stash some cash'---if you have some spare to do so. PLEASE do not think I am 'scaremongering' but as I say, we are in unknown territory and whatever and we can do for ourselves we should do it.
Forewarned is forearmed---I hope we are all OK if the euro does go under--I hope it survives. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL Mike |
