Thanks,David--and for the benefit of the membership the Statutes of the Club CLEARLY state that in order for a Vote to be taken--in other words if the Membership decides on a particular course of action or donation--then there has to be a minimum of 50% plus one of the membership taking part, either at a meeting or/and by proxy vote.-, NOT the majority at JUST a meeting--unless of course there is 50% plus one at the meeting The elected Committee can have the final word.

I think the club activities should be subisidised and not free as this would allow greater use of our available funds. The degree of susidy to be determined by the standing comittee. I think that requests for funding from the Community fund should always be put to the membership first. Guidence by the standing comittee being essencial.

As the Club President, I feel I should 'kick off' this debate. CLUB MEMBERS where would YOU like Club Money to be spent?? On subsidised Annual Subs, FREE or Subsidised Coach trips, FREE Club Quizes. Now is YOUR chance to 'have your say'

This is a subject I intend to have on the Clubs AGM in the New Year---we need clarification as to how we spend money, what charities we support and how much the Committee is authorised to donate before we need to have a Members Vote etc. We need to spend our money wisely but not have it 'stuck in the bank'
