Week Twenty-one Weekly Update 9 June 2025
Hi and welcome to this week’s Weekly Update for a run down on everything that’s going on in ICS this week and more…
This week we start with congratulations to our latest Petanca Champion… Peter Noble. Peter achieved the top position in May and thanks to our kind sponsors, El Parke will be able to enjoy a celebratory and complimentary meal and drink for two in the cafeteria in the Park! Well done Peter!
We have reached our final week in our Spring calendar!
This week we will host our Summer Lunch in the beautiful surroundings in Orgiva!

Monday 9 June
As usual our Mah Jong Red Dragons will be getting together at Hotel Miba for more Mah Jong fun at 11 am. Newbies are always welcome to come along and see how it goes. Players now enjoy a tasty breakfast at the Hotel Miba too!
This week is our final Ukulele Strumblies practice at Bar Amigos of the Spring Season. In fact we are sad to learn that our friends Martin and Phil of Bar Amigos are moving on to new adventures and passing the bar on to new hosts. We understand that the Strumblies will continue to be welcomed as we have been for so long by Martin and Phil. We of course are so grateful to them for their fantastic support over the last couple of years and we have had so much fun, especially our St Patrick’s Day gigs which have been the stuff of legend! Whilst we will miss them, we wish them every success in their next adventure!
Our Discussion group will not be meeting until September.
Tuesday 3 June
As we enter the Summer recess, this will be the final week for our activities at Hotel Salobreña Suites until we return in the Autumn…
A, B, C – Art Backgammon and Chess…
All at Hotel Salobreña Suites at 11am. This week we have arranged for the art group to be able to use a table indoors, either in the Games area next to the TV lounge or in a spare function room.
Backgammon and Chess as usual in the Bar area or terrace.
Bar Amigos is closed on Tuesday so we won’t be hosting Darts. Hopefully Darts will be back in September…we will keep you posted!
Wednesday 4 June – Summer Lunch
We have our Summer lunch at Puerta De La Alpujarra in Orgiva. If you are coming along you should already have received your itinerary by email.
Also known as Orgiva Upper Camping, the venue has glorious panoramic vistas of the mountain side over Orgiva.
We do have three places still available due to unfortunate cancellations so if you would like to come along, please do let us know as soon as possible.

ICS Summer Recess Begins after Week 21 – Friday 13 June
As is usually the case our Spring season comes to a close at the end of this week. Our hosts generally get much much busier with their summer seasonal clients and many of our members make for the home countries or travel elsewhere.
Just a reminder that we are still welcome at the Hotel Salobreña Suites to use their pool for instance, but please remember that we need to see Reception and book buffet lunch (at the special ICS discount rate of 15.50 euros of course), Pay at Reception and they will give you a receipt to show the Restaurant staff.
Mini clubs can continue if agreed with the usual hosts. But your regular Weekly Updates will cease during Summer Recess and will resume at the planned start of our Autumn Season on Wednesday 10 September. In the meantime we may send the odd email if something newsworthy is happening locally. What is exciting is that there will be just over two weeks until our fantastic Mediterranean Cruise when we return in the Autumn!
Don’t forget that the best way to keep in touch with fellow members is either WhatsApp or the Facebook ICS Members Group.
ICS Mediterranean Cruise 6 – 13 October
Just a reminder that it is still not too late to grab a place on our fantastic cruise in October! Our negotiated group rate is very much discounted compared to the current charge for the same cruise elsewhere!
We have five seats on our coach to Valencia and we have Seaview Staterooms still available. But bookings must be completed by Friday 13 June at the latest.

Finally we thank you all for your continued support! We have had a fun season filled with good times.
We are looking forward to a super sunny summer break and we will come back refreshed in September excited for our Mediterranean Cruise a few weeks later!
Also coming up in our Autumn season is our annual presence and party at Romeria on the beach. There is the second part of Terry’s talk on the great Maritime explorers of the New World, even our first Ukulele Festival! Our annual visit to Malaga to enjoy the Christmas Lights and of course our Winter Lunch on 10 December in the snowy surrounds of the Pradollano Ski Village! And of course, much more!
So all that remains is for us to ask you to join us in a joyful expression of our Summer Holiday…
