Weekly Update Sixteen

Hi and welcome to this week’s Weekly Update for a run down on everything that’s going on in ICS this week and more…

Thanks to everyone that came along on Wednesday to hear our founder, Maria Elena Targa talk to us about the origins of the International Club. It was amazing to hear how that smallest group of people meeting to share language skills in Spanish and English began the journey the ICS has been on for so many years already and how it has grown to the club we have today. It had been many years since Foundation Member, Margaret Lingwood had been to a meeting with Maria Elena!

This week we have one of our favourites… Book Swap and Name Badge Draw!

Read on for details below…

Monday 5 May

As usual our Mah Jong Red Dragons will be getting together at Hotel Miba for more Mah Jong fun at 11 am. Newbies are always welcome to come along and see how it goes. Players now enjoy a tasty breakfast at the Hotel Miba too!

On Monday afternoon at 4:30pm our Ukulele Strumblies will be back to rehearsals at Bar Amigos. We continue with our fantastic new set of songs so it’s a lot of fun. If you would like to come along and try playing, just let us know in advance and we can have a uke ready for you to try. If you would like to come along and join in the singing, that is fine too. Maybe you would like to come along to enjoy the practice!

We look forward to seeing you!

Tuesday 6 May

A, B, C – Art Backgammon and Chess…

All at Hotel Salobreña Suites at 11am. This week we have arranged for the art group to be able to use a table indoors, either in the Games area next to the TV lounge or in a spare function room.

Backgammon and Chess as usual in the Bar area or terrace.

New! Darts!

Starting this week will be our latest mini club. Thanks to Club Member George Chaney for volunteering to organise and to our friends Martin and Phil of Bar Amigos for offering to host the events at 1pm on Tuesdays, Bar Amigos, Avenida Federico Garcia Lorca.

All members are welcome to come along and play. We will have some darts to play with for you to get started and if you get into it then of course, you can buy your own!

Wednesday 7 May

Book Swap and Name Badge Draw

At Hotel Salobreña Suites at 11:00am please come along with any books that you have read and would like to share with your fellow members. Just drop them on the coffee table in the TV lounge next to the book case. While you are there of course please take the opportunity to see if there are any books that you would like to borrow already there!

Then make sure that you see one of our Committee members whilst wearing your iCS Name Badge and collect your free raffle ticket for the Name Badge Prize Draw! At 12:30 we will have the drawn and call out three lucky winning tickets! If you have to leave before the draw is made then just put your name on the back of your ticket and leave it with a Committee Member to claim your prize on your behalf.

Other News

Our Discussion Group meets again at Hotel Salobreña Suites at 11am on Monday 12 May to discuss important issues of the day. As always, all are welcome to come along and join in the debate. We will circulate details of the topic next week.

Travel Sharing – Facebook ICS Member’s Group Car Sharing Chat Now live!

So we have now introduced a chat option for members of our ICS Member’s Group. If you have space for other members you can go on and let them know so they can get in touch. If you are looking for a lift you can go in and ask. Don’t forget to mention which activity / event / meeting and from where the lift is needed.

Thanks

Your ICS Committee
