Uke Fest ’25 – ICS presents the first Ukulele Festival of the Costa Tropical! Saturday 8 November, La Brasa, Velez De Benaudalla

The International Club of Salobreña is very proud of the achievements and dedication of it’s very own ukelele group – ICS Ukulele Strumblies.

Since their formation in 2020 they have grown in number and proficiency, meeting throughout the year to play and sing with an instrument that has a light and cheerful tone, perfect for celebrating life under a tropical sun!

One of the joys of ukulele is sharing it with others, so we are delighted to launch our own one day ukulele festival – Uke Fest ’25!

We are grateful to our friends at La Brasa, hotel and restaurant in Velez de Benaudalla for kindly hosting our event and also putting on a fantastic lunch for us too!

So what are we planning?

Uke Group Sets

Of course our ICS Ukulele Strumblies will be playing a set during the event but we have also reached out to other ukulele groups in the area including the Alpujarra Ukestra, Nerja Ukulele Club, and Marbella Ukulele Club. We hope to be able to confirm that they will each be taking to the stage too, very shortly!

Group Play and Sing Along Sessions

We have planned “playalongasong” sessions and have created a song book for the event. You can download a copy using the link below.

If you don’t have access to a tablet to use the online version of the songbook we will have copies available to purchase on the day.

Open Mic Session

We know there is plenty of talent out there and it is only right to let it shine! So we will have an open mic session where anyone is invited to take to the stage with their uke and entertain us with a song.

Ukulele Workshops

Uke Fest is a great opportunity to help ukulele fans develop their skills further. So we have scheduled workshops to work on elements that will help everyone become better players.

Ukie Selfie Booth

As our slogan goes “Uke cannot be serious!” so we will have a little ukulele selfie booth with fun backdrop and props to let you capture a happy memento of your day!

Refreshments

Throughout the day we will have access to the La Brasa bar for refreshments. Pay as you go.

Lunch

Our hosts have a fantastic reputation locally for great food at reasonable prices and included in your ticket price is a three course lunch with a drink and bread.

We have agreed the following menu:

First Course – Carpaccio De Tomate Con Mozarella

Second Course – Secreto De Cerdo Con Guarnicion

Dessert – Helado De Casa

Drinks included are: Vino Tinto, Casera de Limon, Casera Blanca y Agua Mineral

There is a vegetarian option of Vegetable Paella if required and of course you can tell us if you have any food allergies before the event.

This is an exciting undertaking and we hope that it will be the first of many events in the future. Our day will start with Reception and Registration at 8:30am and conclude at 7pm.

Cost

The entrance fee is 40 Euros and includes the three course lunch mentioned above.

Whilst La Brasa is a fantastic venue and can accommodate a large number of people. places for our event will be limited and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

Refunds will not be possible after 11 October 2025.

Please note: Unaccompanied minors will not be admitted to the event.

Don’t forget your ukulele! A big part of the day will be taking part in the playalong and workshop sessions so make sure you bring your instrument and of course the Playalongasong book on your tablet!

Uke Fest Tee

It seems entirely appropriate to mark the occasion with a bespoke Tee Shirt created especially for it!

So we have our Uke Fest ’25 Tee with our Uke Fest branding and fun tag line “Uke Cannot Be Serious!”.

We have two versions available…

One with the colourful branding on the front.

The other with the same branding on the front BUT ALSO… personalisation available on the reverse! So if you would like your uke group name emblazened across the back you can do just that!

Technical Stuff…

In case you are wondering, we have some great sound equipment which will be set up for use by all performers during the event, including condenser microphones and active 2500W speakers.
